So - nobody has any ideas on this then?
Ive solved it
I created a Reverse DNS zone with only a single individual partner IP and a single name. Then switched DNS to ON-DEMAND and then back to Persistent. Waited overnight and ta-daa. It resolves to the name on the R-DNS record. Good enough but not perfect.
